Background and Experience
I’ve been fascinated and involved in technology since my childhood. I’ve worked with punched cards and plugboards, mainframes, and minicomputers. My first personal machine was an Apple IIe. I’ve witnessed the evolution of the machines that drive our computations, communications, and culture, from colossal mainframes in temples we visited through glass walls to the magical phones and tablets we carry today. This career spans over 50 years of experience helping organizations adopt technology that truly benefits people. While technology is exciting, if it doesn’t solve a problem, it’s just cleverly assembled metal, silicon, and plastic.
When I was eight years old, I read “A Night to Remember,” which sparked my fascination with the R.M.S. Titanic and the tragedy surrounding that magnificent ship. This led me to research the Andrea Doria and eventually discover the Eastland in my own backyard. These were management, operational, and engineering failures.
I spent countless hours at the museums in Chicago, but the one that truly captivated me was the Art Institute. I was astounded by the creations, wondering how the artists envisioned those beautiful paintings and sculptures. More importantly, I pondered how they transformed their thoughts into tangible realities. This was also where I discovered Asian art in the Japanese exhibits, which led me to the Tao Te Ching and the profound simplicity of Asian philosophy and design.
As a former Gartner Vice President Analyst, I traveled extensively, gaining a unique perspective on how different companies and cultures approached technology. My two decades of helping Fortune 500 companies navigate major technology transformations resulted in the development of a human-centric approach to governance and policy. I firmly believe that the most effective IT solutions address real business problems while making employees’ jobs easier, not more challenging. My approach strikes a balance between technology capabilities and the needs of individuals to foster productivity and job satisfaction at work.
I’ve worked across six continents and have Italian citizenship, which gives me flexibility for European projects.
I am currently working with former colleagues to develop AI security and governance solutions and developing trust frameworks.
